"I'm immensely grateful to Calvin for caring for my kitties. My husband and I had to attend a wedding and didn't have anyone to take care of our two cats. We found Kristin's Kitty Care through our vet's office and thought we'd give it a try. We were contacted quickly and met Calvin. Calvin cared for two Bengal cats for a week as if the cats were his own. We received daily updates, pictures and Calvin also gave medication to our senior cat. I really can't recommend this service and Calvin in particular enough!! If I need to travel again, I know who I can contact for a kind, compassionate, respectful and responsible cat sitter. Thank you Kristin's Kitty Care!! Thank you Calvin!!"

"We've been using Kristin's Kitty Care for years and have had such a positive experience. Our current sitter, Linda, has taken care of our cat numerous times and he just adores her. Normally a skittish/reserved cat until he gets to know someone, he really warmed up to her quickly and it's so wonderful getting the detailed updates from Linda while we are gone. She always shares the best photos too. Big thanks to Linda and Kristin's Kitty Care!"

"Joseph took wonderful care of our cat over a long weekend trip. He gave updates and sent pictures so we could feel good that our cat was doing well while we were away. He went above and beyond when he found a trapped bird (which the cat showed him) and had to creatively get it freed and released it back out!"

Why Hire a Professional Cat Sitter?

Better than friends

Friends are great, but cat care isn’t everyone’s specialty. Our sitters are fully trained in feline care best practices. We treat every cat with attention tailored just for them and we understand that some cats require a little extra patience or a soft touch.   You’ll also receive daily updates so you can feel connected to your cat even when you’re apart. Our expertise ensures every visit is stress-free and enjoyable for you and your cat.

Better than boarding

Boarding is a good option for dogs. Cats? Not so much. Felines not only stress easily in response to other animals and new environments, but they are also highly dependent on their routine. We respect that by sticking to their schedule as closely as possible, and all within the comfort of their home. From mealtime to playtime, everything will feel familiar and comforting for your kitty. Let us be there when you can’t be.

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our cat sitting services and how they work.

What does a professional cat sitter do?

A purr-fessional provides in-home care while you’re away so your cat can remain comfortable in their familiar environment. Services typically include feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning, playtime, enrichment, medication administration, grooming support, and daily updates with photos.Experienced sitters also monitor for subtle changes in behavior, appetite, energy levels, or litter box habits that may indicate stress or medical concerns.

How much does cat sitting cost in the Bay Area?

Most professional sitters charge between $30–$55 per visit depending on visit length, neighborhood, holiday demand, and your cat’s care needs. Overnight care generally ranges from $90–$160 per night. Pricing may increase for multiple cats, medication administration, senior or special-needs care, holidays, or longer visits. While lower-cost options exist, experienced sitters typically provide additional value through fear-free handling, reliable communication, emergency preparedness, and medical experience.

Is cat sitting better than boarding?

For many cats, yes. Cat sitting in the home allows your cat to stay in a familiar space with their usual scents, routines, and hiding spots. This reduces stress, appetite changes, and litter box issues that can occur in unfamiliar boarding environments. Cat sitting is especially beneficial for anxious or shy cats, senior cats, cats requiring medication, multi-cat households and cats that are especially sensitive to environmental change. Boarding may still be appropriate in certain situations, but many cat parents prefer in-home care because it minimizes disruption and provides more individualized attention.

How often should a cat sitter visit?

Most cats benefit from at least one visit per day, though many cat parents choose twice-daily visits for companionship, medication schedules, or additional monitoring. Kittens, senior cats, and medically complex cats require more frequent check-ins. Longer or more frequent visits can also help reduce stress and boredom for highly social cats. And even healthy, independent cats should not be left alone for extended periods without someone monitoring their food and water intake, litter box activity, and behavioral changes.

Can a cat sitter administer medication?

Many professional cat sitters can administer medications, including pills, liquid medications, topical medications, insulin injections, and subcutaneous fluids. However, it’s important to ask about training and comfort level during the meet-and-greet. Cats with medical needs often do best with sitters experienced in fear-free handling and low-stress medication techniques. Always provide clear written instructions and inform your sitter about any past medication difficulties or behavioral triggers.

How does it work with Kristin's Kitty Care?

Our cat sitting services are designed for your convenience. Simply book a visit online, and our experienced sitters will come to you. We approach cat care with a special touch to ensure your cat feels safe and loved.

What are your rates?

Our rates vary based on the length and frequency of visits. We offer competitive pricing to ensure you receive the best value for your cat's care. Visit our services page for detailed pricing information.

Are the sitters insured?

Yes, all of our sitters are fully insured and trained to handle various situations. Your cat's safety and well-being are our top priorities. You can rest assured knowing your pet is in good hands.

How do I book?

Booking a cat sitter is easy! Just sign up with your details and preferred dates. Once submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation and further instructions.

Can I meet sitters?

Absolutely! We encourage you to set up a complimentary meeting with your assigned sitter before the first visit. This helps both you and your cat feel comfortable and secure. Schedule a meet-and-greet here.

What is your cancelation policy?

We understand that situations change. There is no charge if you cancel seven (7) days in advance. If you cancel within 7 days of your trip, we will charge you for one full visit.
